category at the national Wetnose Animal Rescue Awards 2012. In this article we get an insight into the daily pressures of running a charity on a voluntary basis when you already have a full-time job. Rescue really is 24/7. It is humbling to read the emotional ups and downs of just one day in the life of a volunteer cat rescuer – from experiencing the distress of knowing so many cats are in need of your help, to the reward of seeing the lucky few you can take in slowly recover and go on to happy homes. All rescuers are heroes, indeed.
