Appeal of the Month

TaTac

TaTac is a handsome 9‑year‑old gentleman with a big personality, a bigger voice, and an even bigger heart for the humans he trusts (especially if they have treats). He’s looking for a calm, adult‑only home where he can finally be the centre of someone’s world — no other pets, no exceptions. TaTac knows exactly what he wants, and he’s ready to tell you all about it in his wonderfully chatty way.

🌿 His Needs

  • Allergies: TaTac requires special paper litter to keep him comfortable and healthy.
  • Pet‑free home: He absolutely cannot live with other cats or animals.
  • Adult‑only household: He thrives best with adults who understand feline body language.
  • Experienced owner: Someone patient, observant, and confident around cats who sometimes need space.

💬 His Personality

Most of the time, TaTac is a loving, affectionate boy who adores human company. He’ll follow you around, chat about his day, and curl up nearby just to be close. But like many sensitive souls, he has moments when the world feels a bit too much. When he’s upset or overstimulated, he can give a nasty nip — not out of malice, but because he struggles to cope.

He needs someone who can read his signals, respect his boundaries, and give him the reassurance and structure he’s been missing. In return, he’ll give you loyalty, companionship, and the kind of bond that only forms when a cat finally feels understood.

🏡 The Home He Deserves

TaTac isn’t a “starter cat.” He’s a cat for someone who knows and loves the complex, expressive, deeply rewarding nature of sensitive felines. With the right person, he will flourish — becoming the affectionate, talkative companion he truly is at heart.

If you’re an experienced cat guardian who believes every animal deserves to be loved for who they are, TaTac is waiting for you. He’s ready to give his whole heart to the person who sees him, understands him, and chooses him.

Fundraise for us

Sponsored-walk-2015Be part of the future of Caring for Cats, and help us go on rescuing and rehoming cats & kittens in our region. There are so many ways that you can raise vital funds for us – take part in an organised challenge like a marathon or sponsored swim, plan your own event like a bake sale or coffee morning, or maybe you could fundraise via your workplace with donation tins. Whatever you choose, let us know so we can cheer you on and share your fundraising success with our friends and supporters too.

The pennies and pounds all add up, here are some ideas to start you off…

Sponsored events – support ours, or organise your own!

Every year we hold a charity sponsored walk organised by volunteers – see photo right of our 2015 walkers, pictured with a £200 donation cheque from a local business sponsor, when they raised an amazing total of £1006!! You can take part or show your support by sponsoring the group; sponsor forms are available from our homing centre or charity shop.
Or, why not raise your own sponsorship by doing your own activity at any time of the year. Support us by…

  • giving up a treat for a month…chocolate, alcohol, PC games, smoking, or watching TV!
  • a sponsored weight loss, where you benefit too
  • doing your own sporting challenge… cycling, running, or a charity match

You can easily create your own fundraising page at our MyDonate site to collect donations online (or click on the MyDonate button below). Let us know and we can also provide official collection tins to make asking for support easier.

School & kids’ fundraising

button-5A great way to involve children so they can learn about animal welfare, community responsibility and have fun at the same time. Organise a kids quiz or raffle, a fancy dress day (maybe as cats?), a sponsored car wash for family and friends, or maybe a sponsored silence 🙂 Or hold a fundraising stall at a local fair for us. A good way to start is to help us with one of our charity-organised stalls at local fairs and markets which take place several times a year. You can easily create your own fundraising page at our MyDonate site to collect donations online.

    Neutering

    WHY ‘NEUTER YOUR ‘TOM’ CAT?

A ‘tom’ cat can mate with over 40 female cats a year and he can and will follow the scent of a female over 7 miles away! While he’s out and about roaming the area he can easily get lost and find himself homeless when the romancing is over. Unless his owner has micro-chipped him and is lucky to have him found by a cat lover, Tom is doomed to live a life of misery. Nobody will adopt an entire tomcat, or even tolerate him in the back garden, because he fights other people’s pets, male and female, and marks houses and gardens with a pungent scent.

Homeless and hungry, he will enter houses through the cat flap in search of food, only to get shooed away. Fighting for his survival, he will soon look run-down and battered and his chances of finding a new home dwindle even further. “Mangy toms” are usually not mangy at all, they are often only neglected, undernourished and battle scarred. Toms are the most frequent victims of road death. The newest threat of all now is a virus, the killer FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), which is passed on during fights through biting when the saliva of the infected cat enters the bloodstream of the other. No cat has been known to recover from it and entire tomcats are most likely to fall victim. All this could be avoided by neutering.

    And what about “the girls”?

Did you know that one unspayed female cat could be responsible for 10,924 kittens over a 6 year period?
This is a minimum total calculated by assuming she has her first litter when she is a year old, (although this could be as young as six months) and using the low rate of only 2 litters a year per mature female cat (most cats have 3 or 4 litters per year), basing our calculation on 4 kittens each time, 2 male and 2 female, and not taking the death rate into account.

So neutering your female kitten before she is six months old could prevent a minimum of 10,924 unwanted cats looking for new homes and would most likely extend your cats life by excluding the many risks involved in having kittens. It is an old wives tale when people say that cats should be allowed to have one litter first. Why put your cat at risk?
