Why choose Caring for Cats?
Although we are small in size we are big on ideals, as Caring for Cats is the only local re-homing organisation that ensures EVERY cat and kitten passes through a unique “7 Step Health Check” ....
1. |
Blood Testing We screen for two diseases that are fatal to cats – FIV and Feline Leukaemia, which can pass from mother to kitten or between adults that fight or mate.
2. |
Vet Check Our vets give each animal a thorough physical examination and carry out any advised treatments – irrespective of the cost.
3. |
Vaccinations We vaccinate against four diseases: cat flu, feline panleucopenia, feline enteritis & feline leukaemia. Adult cats will have had both their vaccinations but kittens will have to be returned for their second, which can be done at any of the Swanbridge or Battle Flatts practices.
4. |
Treatments for Parasites All animals are regularly treated against fleas and worms.
5. |
Micro-chipping All animals are micro-chipped which will be transferred into your name on adoption.
6. |
Neutering All adult cats are neutered on entering the charity; if not yet 6 months, kittens will be neutered at that age by returning them to any Swanbridge or Battle Flatts practice.
7. |
Free Insurance Receive 4 weeks’ FREE PetPlan insurance on the day of adoption, which we strongly recommend you continue, but you are under no obligation to.
| The cost of this treatment would be at least £180 on the high street, yet the minimum donation we ask is only £85. We are always grateful to the people who are able to donate more than this where possible. |
