Caring for Cats is a small non-profit cat rescue charity working in the Hull, Beverley, York, Driffield and wider Yorkshire and Humber region. Based in Market Weighton, it is dedicated to the rescue, care, and rehoming of unwanted, abandoned, mistreated & feral cats and kittens.
Emaciated and only days from death, a ragdoll cat is handed in to Caring for Cats by a van driver who had found her in a layby. Watch her story on the video below. We can only go on admitting cats that need emergency veterinary care thanks to donations from the animal-loving public in the region.

Eight of the 16 youngsters saved by Caring for Cats
This is a very special Appeal of the Month as we are looking for homes for the group of 16 young unwanted cats and kittens that the charity saved from being destroyed. The animals were found at the home of an elderly person who had to be taken to hospital. All the white-and-black cats are around one to one-and-a-half years old, and although timid are in very good health.
We are looking for a long-term foster home for Ben, a lovely ginger male cat who has sadly lost a back leg. The one-and-a-half-year-old has a genetic joint disorder that only became apparent as he grew up. Despite the best efforts of our vets the problem could not be corrected on the worst affected left leg which had to be amputated. Ben is currently getting about very happily with the remaining back leg, but he will need periodic treatment to manage the joint, and the charity will continue to provide this.
Caring for Cats has won the award for Best Cat Rescue Centre at the national Wetnose Animal Rescue Awards 2012, billed as the green carpet animal event of the year.
Charity founders Rose Atkin and Steve Marshall attended the ceremony in London on 9th March to accept the award and help publicise the exceptional work and achievements of all Caring for Cats volunteers. "Everyone should be extremely proud of the voluntary work they do for this charity, it is fantastic to have our efforts recognised nationally at this award event. Steve and I were both privileged and humbled to win alongside like-minded people with such inspirational stories to tell." said Rose.
