Ginger was handed in to the charity by a Polish worker who had been feeding her as a stray for a long time, but he was due to return to his home country, and realised there would be no-one to continue caring for her. When she arrived with us we found Ginger was a beautiful cuddly girl with a supersoft marmalade coat, but sadly suffering from carpal hyperextension on her front paws (‘collapsed wrists’). This injury is typically caused by a fall from a great height, as cats land on their front legs, and is not reversible. But we will never know for sure how she came to be like this. Tests have shown the condition is not painful for her, though x-rays indicate there is some arthritis now present. As a result we realised Ginger would have to remain in the care of the charity in a longterm foster home, to ensure she received the proper care her condition would necessitate as she got older. This fussy puss has a very strong personality, & can sometimes be grumpy if she doesn’t get her own way! She is however always desperate to get on someone’s knee for a stroke and will sit for ages lapping up affection and cuddles. She now has the security of a loving home where she can live out her autumn years in the continued care of the charity.
